Description
Illustration of Life, by photographer Max Kandhola, was published in 2003 as an artist’s monograph, which documents his father’s struggle with cancer, and the last moments in his life. In writing about his visual experience of death, Kandhola discusses issues within Sikh ritual the impact of the project in terms of the visual representation of the inescapable nature of human mortality and as an original comment on the shifting cultural aesthetic of the representation of death.
