We are pleased to announce the winners of the Sara Preisler Award for Practical Realisation of Concept. This is the second year that Sara has offered this coveted award to the BA students at Birmingham City University's School of Jewellery, and is awarded to the student or students who best express their chosen philosophy or human experience through their collection of degree work.

This year's winners are Francesca Onumah and Lois Freestone, so congratulations to them both!

Francesca Onumah's ornamental objects have been created using traditional silversmithing skills. Their sensitive, textured landscapes act as abstract miniature homes for the memories associated with our environment.

Lois Freestone's series of rings are wearable architecture, containing quartz crystal. These strong, geometric forms contain an imposing sense of place and purpose, despite their small size.

We look forward to having the work of both winners in the gallery over the next few months!
